Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu speaks....

          Today, the Governor’s Advisory Council, the highest decision-making body within the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, passed a resolution calling for the disbandment of all factional groups within the party.

          This was to promote discipline, harmony and cohesion and engender party supremacy. The APC is one united political family in Lagos.

          Our attention has, however, been drawn to a report in an online newspaper alleging that the GAC’s appropriate and candid resolution had worsened a phantom cold war between Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

          This is a figment of the imagination of the news organization that authored the report. Asiwaju Tinubu remains Ogbeni Aregbesola’s leader. The former governor of Osun State has been unswervingly & wholly committed to the progressive ideology of the Tinubu political family.

           There is no war, cold or hot, between them. There has never been and there will never be. Asiwaju believes in him and he believes in the APC leader.

           Our political family remains strong. And we are staying focused in our commitment to building and maintaining a cohesive political party.

           The GAC is a very strong body within the APC leadership structure in Lagos. Its resolution is not targeted at any particular individual or collection of individuals.

           The resolution was to restate the often-stated position that the only group known to us is APC and not any of the factional groups. It was to renew the commitment to APC and its unity.

            Ogbeni Aregbesola is a strong member of the political family. The GAC position does not imply any division within the group. The resolution is well-meaning and should not be misinterpreted.

            To do so impulsively as the authors of the report has done is to take the frontier of reporting away from facts to the realm of groundless speculations.

Ogun State Assembly Confirms And Swear-In Adeyemo As Clerk

            Ogun State House of Assembly today confirmed the immediate former Ag Clerk, Mr. Adedeji Adeyemo as the substantive Clerk of the Assembly and thereby conducted swearing in on him, following a motion for the confirmation of his appointment as the Clerk of the Assembly moved by the Majority Leader, Yusuf Sheriff, seconded by the Deputy Speaker, Oludare Kadiri and supported by the Whole House through a voice vote.

           The Majority Leader moved the motion for confirmation of Adeyemo's appointment, shortly after quoting the House Resolution titled: "HR No 057/ OG/ 2020- Confirmation of the appointment of the Clerk of the House of Assembly- resolved, that in view of the High Court Judgement of Thursday, 4th June, 2020, in respect of SUIT NO. AB/227/ 2019, which confirm the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and the Ogun State House of Assembly Service Commission Law, 2018, in respect of staffing of the State Legislature. The House of Assembly hereby confirm the appointment of Adedeji Taiwo Adeyemo as the Clerk of the Ogun State House of Assembly and the Head of the Legislative Service of Ogun State, in consonance with the provisions of the extant Laws cited above".

            Adeyemo an indegene of Ipokia Local Governmnet area of the State, had his Masters in Managerial Psychology, and had worked in various Ministries and Agencies before he was transferred to the State House of Assembly and had been Ag. Clerk at different times. He had since been sworn in by the Speaker, after oaths were administered by Barr George Oyeniyi.

          As time passes, hope fades. The state of the nation worsen as the daylight echoes each day; many powerful men had steered the wheel but few drove with ease as the rickety state of the nation’s vehicle make the smooth running of the nation an onerous task.

          Many bad drivers have swayed us with their sugarcoated propaganda only to display a show of disgrace once the wheel has been handed over. No wonder the saying “you can’t give what you don’t posses”.

          The economy of the nation that has been rendered unproductive due to the invasion of the government by inexperienced drivers who drove the nation over the years, this was brought back to life when a man of unparalleled achievements steered the wheel and drive Ogun west effortlessly to the promise land.

          At the mention of the TOD, the acronym that spells magnanimity, fluids of hope runs through the Western Ogun people’s vein. The hope of a great district characterized by good economy, security of lives and property; and prosperous citizens who enjoys good infrastructure and basic amenities.

           The hope of a strong economy coupled with constructive development that couldn’t be rivalled with within Ogun state and beyond became a reality steers since the inception of a responsive representative.

           Over the years, the achievements of Tolu Odebiyi hasn’t been topped by any political spartan in Ogun west, his political dynasty can’t be compared to anyone’s, his mentoring sprit is unique, his fighting spirit cannot be matched, his thirst for a better Ogun West is beyond satiation.

As hopes lingers in mind and love dwells in the soul, positivity makes the complete puzzle.

           The achievements of TOD had spoken volumes. Expressly, the Advocacy against customs high handedness, provision of Jobs to Ogun west indigenes, stipulation of scholarship to over one thousand applicants, distribution of palliative materials and donations to the state government to cushion the effect of COVID-19 ravaging his state and many more without forsaking his constitutional duties at the house of senate. 

To mention a few cannot but be over emphasized.

          On a final thought, let’s keep the faith in good shape as the senator continues to fulfill his duties in the red chambers. And we shall all enjoy the dividends of unembellished democracy.

Bamidele Abiodun Leads The Walk Against Rape And Girl Child Molestation

          The First Lady of Ogun State, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun called on the three arms of overnment in Ogun state to give unflinching support to matters concerning rape and gender based violence.

She made this call during a peaceful walk and awareness to the Executive and the Legislative arms of the state to solicit support for action against gender based violence and rape in the state.

          She decried the gruesome rape and killings of Tina Ezekwe, Uwavera Omozua, Barakat Bello and Jennifer that occurred recently among others, stating that such crimes had been on the rise in the community demanded drastic and urgent steps to nip them in the bud.

          She informed that the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun recently inaugurated a committee that would ensure the development of an effective, comprehensive and coordinated response to cases of sexual and gender based violence in Ogun state urging the committee to develop strategies to prevent and combat such acts.

          Mrs. Abiodun emphasized her readiness and commitment to ensuring that survivors of the acts were not stigmatized or discriminated against in the society acknowledged the role of men in the struggle.

          "We need to do more and ensure our survivors are not stigmatized; justice served; and the emotional and mental well-being of survivors is prioritized. I also humbly request that we continue to involve men in national conversation on violence against women. To men already supporting this cause, thank you for speaking up."

She further stressed the need to educate and sensitize young boys and men who according to her were the perpetrators of the acts, to be protectors instead of being perpetrators.

          "You are our fathers, our brothers and sons. Yet most of the violent sexual crimes committed against women are being perpetrated by boys and men. We need to educate our young boys and encourage them to be protectors and not perpetrators".

          In his response, the Governor of Ogun state, Prince Dapo Abiodun commended and thanked the First Lady and her team on the initiative and for being a voice to women folk who according to him formed about 50% of the world population.

He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that cases which bordered on women and girl child violence were expedited to bring the offenders to book assuring that men in the Executive would lend their voices to the campaign and give women and girl child equal opportunities as well as empower them economically.

          Earlier in his own response, the Speaker of the Ogun state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Olakunle Oluomo commended the First Lady and her team for their concern for the women folk and promised on behalf of the Legislature to give accelerated hearing and passage to any bill that affect women and children in the state.

Oluomo Advocates For Technical Education Towards Self-Reliance In Nigeria.

           The Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Prince) Olakunle Taiwo Oluomo has emphasised the need to support technical education in the country, in a bid towards building a self-reliant nation.

          The Speaker made the call while inspecting equipment designed and built by the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, towards combating the CoronaVirus pandemic.

           He advised that the nation needed to look in the direction of technical education in order to be independent of other countries.

          Rt Hon Oluomo who was obviously elated, appreciated the ingenuity of the institution's management towards flattening the curve of the pandemic in the country, noting that the Polytechnic was due to become a University of technology.

          Equipment inspected included, two models of Mechanical Ventilator, Multiple Outlets mechanical Handwashing and Sanitizing machines, Electronically operated Walk-through-Door disinfectant, a Movable Environmental Sanitizer, among others.

           According to him, 'Only yesterday, the house of Assembly passed a Law to amend the State's Technical and Vocational Education Law, which is aimed at encouraging the youths to embrace technical education'

He promised to encourage members of the State Hallowed Chambers to acquire the Multiple Outlets Handwashing and Sanitizing machines for schools in their various constituencies, calling on well meaning Individuals to support the initiative of the institution by patronizing the products.

          Earlier while conducting the Speaker and his entourage round the equipment, Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Olusegun Aluko noted that all components used for the projects were locally sourced, lamenting that the equipment could not be produced enmasse due to paucity of funds.

           He pleased for Support in order to make the Equipment available in large quantities , so as to support the fight against the global pandemic.

          The Speaker was accompanied to the Polytechnic by the member representing Yewa South in the State Assembly, Hon. Bolanle Latifat Ajayi as well as the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Culture and Tourism, Hon. Yusuf Adejojo.
