Dapo Abiodun: A Pacesetter By Rasheed Aroboto

"And he finisheth what the acclaimed elephant thought was unrealistic, without neglecting his well thought out objectives; to accelerate the revamping and resuscitation process of the state, and to take the state on a tour to a greater height". Dapo Abiodun is the author and finisher of 'a new Ogun'.

We offer dirge to the warlord who littered the state with commissioned and uncommissioned half-baked projects, many of which payment are unaccountable for. And we dig a pool of embellished eulogies to the great one who above all odds get them completed and authored new manuscripts of development.

Infrastructurally, Ogun state should have been third to none after Lagos state, but remained in a reverse position even with the free flow of allocations and well cultivated IGR. The not fetched reason was because we once had an administration greedy and lopsided in all ways.

Overtly, Prince Dapo Abiodun being driven by the love for his people and reckoning the sworn oath of service to humanity, has began the resuscitation of all abandoned projects; to ease the citizens welfarism and to usher in new projects for the betterment of all and sundry.

Assiduously, Prince Dapo Abiodun with his able team of thinkers and doers has began the tearing down of dilapidated infrastructures with replacement of standardized ones, he has began pulling down of defacing amenities with instant replacement of better ones. He has to the faces of many, renovated and reconstructed hundreds of social infrastructures (schools, health care centres, water services, fire services...) Which are now the people's place of hope in days of trouble.

Without mincing words, the abandoned memorial school cum TECH HUB which has created an enabling environment for lovers of technology to delve fully into the world of technology has been of immense benefit to the youths, secondary school students and primary school pupils. All glory to the one who change the face of the abandoned project into a glorified arena of knowledge.

It is beyond falsity to opine that Ogun state is littered with carcass of unfinished projects. Many of which should have been of utmost benefit to the citizens are lying in waste, some in skeletal while many in ruins. With a promise made and kept by Abiodun led administration, selected ones are being breathed life to give the state the face-lift needed to queue along with league of developed states herein the nation.

With tons of new projects heralding the hemisphere and hundreds of abandoned project being attended to, Ogun state under a working and developmental oriented administration will in no time be built to the taste of our dreams.

Covid-19: Ogun State Youths Cautions Political Warlords

In wake of the mysterious death ravaging the country as a result of Corona Virus complications, the Coordinator of Ogun State APC Youth Wing, Comrade Rasheed Aroboto has urge political leaders in the state to be more vigilant.

Aroboto who in his words said "It is obvious there are more to the death of agile and active Political leaders in the country, details has it that they died of COVID-19 complications or related issues but on personal assessment, I guess there is more to it."

"Humanly thinking, I see it as an attack on individuals by competitors who are aware of the mode of attack of the virus hence exposing their targeted leaders to the virus in order to amputate their activities which might have consequently resulted in their death."

"Come to think of it, despite the measures being taken by the government, cases kept on increasing on daily basis, just yesterday, we had a record breaking cases of over 700 people. This simply means the virus is still very much active and unscrupulous entities might be using it to attack our political warlords by finding means of infecting them"

"I hereby appeal to our political leaders in Ogun state and beyond to shun any form of meetings or close contact with random people regardless how important. Virtual meeting is a good alternative pending the time the country will be fully safe from the ravaging virus. Remember it's only a healthy soul that will be invited for meetings, health comes before any other thing"

"I hereby call on the general public as well to intensify safety precaution schemes, do self examination on regular basis, submit yourself for checkup when you notice any of the symptoms, don't hesitate to speak out, Covid-19 is not a killer, keeping silence is what kills."

Conclusively, He also urge Covid-19 Task Force to be more diligent in their obligations, be more faithful and dedicated in supporting the government in eradicating and stopping the spread of the disease.

Dapo Abiodun Recommences Uncompleted Kuto Bridge, Promise Completion Of Other Viable Abandoned Projects In The State

The current Administration of the Ogun State Government, under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR has recommenced the construction project on Kuto Bridge and the surrounding road. It would be recalled that the road project was left uncompleted by the immediate past administration, under the most controversial circumstances.

Governor Abiodun disclosed that the State Government was only able to continue the project starting with asphalt laying, following series of deliberations with the contractors who had sought variation and additional payment. The re-evaluation and rescoping, according to the Governor, yielded an agreement to complete the uncompleted project.

When the Administration of Governor Abiodun came on board in May 2019, the Governor had pledged that all projects left uncompleted or abandoned by the immediate past administration would be completed or put to better utilitarian use. So far, the Government has completed parts of a hospital, the construction of which the past administration abandoned halfway, despite claims that a staggering 7 billion Naira had been spent on the project. Other interventions by the incumbent Government include the completion and conversion of some abandoned Model Schools constructed by the past administration, into COVID-19 testing centres and a ICT hub.

These are in line with the position of Governor Abiodun to always work for the common interest of the good people of Ogun State and not politicise any project on which taxpayers’ funds have been expended. According to the truism that government is a continuum, the Governor has proven to take the baton from the preceding racer with his eye on the finish line.

In furtherance of#BuildingOurFutureTogether Agenda, the Ogun State Government has announced that it is currently in talks with contractors in charge of other uncompleted or abandoned projects, towards completing them and delivering quality projects to the good people of the State.

His most impactful years of service to his fatherland witnessed innovative developments like the establishment of the Ogun State University (renamed Olabisi Onabanjo University), Ago Iwoye, the Ogun State Polytechnic (now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic). Abeokuta which continue to be the most thoughtful decision of that administration.
Out of the Government, Chief Ogunpola, continued to work for the development of education in the country as a University teacher, researcher and presented many papers that was a compass to national development.

Gov. Abiodun lauded Ogunpola for being a patriot academic and wholesome leader who invested his time and energy in nation-building and ensuring that the younger generation benefit from his fountain of knowledge as a university teacher and administrator.

According to the Governor Chief Ogunpola represented the very best of his generation: “The death of one of our elder statesmen, Chief George Akinola Iyanda Ogunpola, who died at 88 years early this morning in Abeokuta, the State Capital, came as a rude shock to me, personally . Of course, the Government of Ogun State has lost a rare gem.

As a trained teacher, administrator and the Commissioner for Education between 1979 and 1983, Gov. Abiodun said he (Ogunpola) helped the then Governor Bisi Onabanjo transform education at various levels - Primary, Secondary and Tertiary - with a view to improving the status of education and establishing a solid foundation for free and quality education for all and at all levels.

Address Delivered By The Governor Of Ogun State, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR At The Year 2020 June 12 Commemoration Anniversary Held On Friday, 12th June, 2020.

My dear people of Ogun State,

This day 27 years ago, Nigerians defied all their traditional fault-lines to vote en-mass for Chief Moshood Kasimawo Olawale Abiola as the President of our great nation. That day, there was no North, South, East or West. Nobody cared about tribes and tongues. It did not matter that it was a Muslim-Muslim ticket. Everybody wanted progress and voted for change in a manner unparalleled in the history of Nigeria.

2.It was a day Nigeria came together and there has never been a day like it again. This is because MKO Abiola won the election, fair and square. Abiola scored 58.36% of the 14 million votes cast. Abiola won in 20 of the then 30 States of the federation. He had a spread across all the geo-political zones. The election was declared Nigeria’s freest and fairest Presidential election by national and international observers, with Abiola even winning in his opponent’s home-State. June 12 is, thus, a day to remember Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola as well as other democracy martyrs.

3.I am talking about: (i) Free and fair elections; (ii) Uncoercedexpression of voters’ preference in election; (iii) Respect for electorate as unfettered final arbiter on elections; (iv) Decorum and fairness on the part of the electoral umpires; (v) Absolute respect for the rule of law. MKO remains the iconic reference for and symbol of ONE NIGERIA and our closest link to DEMOCRACY. Had we sustained the momentum, perhaps our great Nation, Nigeria, would have moved from its Third World Status to First World like Lee Kwan Yew’s Singapore.

4.Indeed, beside the Day the Union Jack flag was lowered for the Nation’s Green-White-Green flag, on October 1, 1960, there is no day with national significance like June 12, 1993. This is because in spite of the uniqueness and peculiarities of Nigeria, the election of MKO Abiola demystified all stereotypes about the so-called centrifugal and centripetal forces. June 12 was complete in answering to all the prerequisites which constitute an irreducible minimum for democracy.

5.Many Nigerians have always been of the opinion that June 12 should be a national holiday. However, only some Nigerian States were actually celebrating it until Tuesday, 6th June, 2018, when President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR surprised the whole nation by choosing June 12 to replace the hitherto May 29 as the fair, right and proper day to celebrate our National Rebirth and real day of Democracy.

6.Let me use this opportunity to once again thank President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, for conferring the highest National honour of Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR) on Late (Chief) Moshood Kashimawo Abiola on Tuesday, 12th June, 2018. That the President understood the need to correct the injustice done to a proud son of Ogun State and redressed it as a pre-requisite for peace and unity is not only commendable, it is worthy of emulation. As President Buhari rightly observed, we should consider this honour of Democracy Day as part of the process of healing and reconciliation as a National apology from our leaders to all of us. And, as today is the first year anniversary since our President recognized the day, we should ordinarily roll out the drums in Ogun State. We would have had a better and bigger celebration of June 12 if not for the global pandemic of COVID-19. Even if he had been around, President MKO Abiola, GCFR, would not have endorsed such indiscretion at this grievous period of the dreaded virus.

7.But even at that, we recognize that we have to do what we need to do in recognition of the Late MKO Abiola because we are all beneficiaries of his democratic sacrifice, which paved way for the democracy we all enjoy today. We know that democracy has been fully watered by the blood of some Martyrs and Abiola occupies a prime position in this respect. It was then not a surprise when he was given the posthumous highest award in Nigeria, the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (GCFR).

8.As the Nation commemorates June 12, 1993, General Election, we celebrate Chief Abiola, the great Ogun State avatar, selfless philanthropist, successful businessman and social democrat. This is not just because the election remains a watershed in the political history of our country but because it is an attestation to the demonstrable show of love and patriotism that reverberate across the country and the rest.

9.Let me say that another significant element of the success of the June 12 election is based on the vision of the Late (Chief) MKO Abiola as anchored in his programme of creating prosperity for all the people of Nigeria. He believed that the wealth of Nigeria was sufficient enough for all her citizens, regardless of geographical location, sex, age, religion or tribes. It is in record that MKO Abiola was the first Presidential candidate that would campaign far and wide to all States of Nigeria before election. He had therefore felt the pulse and feelings of the people, even at the grassroots level. And, he always confirmed that he knew what poverty means, but he was also lucky to have education.

10.Thus, he saw education as a veritable vehicle for emancipation of the people. We are not surprised that Abiola aligned himself to education from all sides of the world . This is why he named two different educational facilities after his father, Salawu AbiolaComprehensive High School, Osiele; and, also his mother, ZulikhaAbiola College of Arabic and Islamic Studies, both in the State Capital.Furthermore, the late MKO knew the centrality of people as a focus of good governance and emancipation. That was why he anchored the entire campaign of “Hope 93” towards providing prosperity for the citizens of Nigeria – he wanted to banish poverty from Nigeria.

11.We are proud to identify with the dreams and vision encapsulated in “HOPE 93”. This also provided the compass to fashionour “Building our Future Together” Agenda to rekindle hope in the people of our dear State. I believe that the best way to immortalize thelate MKO Abiola is to ensure that the ideals that he lived and fought for, continue to live even after him. We must continue to propagate the evolution of democratic ideals and principles for further development of the Nigerian as a Nation. Our “Building our Future Together” Agenda is following the narrative of Abiola’s HOPE projects in education, agriculture, poverty alleviation, affordable healthcare, provision of infrastructure and good governance. These form the bases for our Administration’s unalloyed commitment towards upholding the principles of good governance of inclusiveness, openness, transparency, accountability, fairness, justice, equity, and obedience to the rule of law.We believe this will in turn engender more contributions from the people to the continued development of our dear State.

        12. Let me once again reassure our people that we will continue to ensure that the dividends of democracy and benefits of good governance get to the generality of the people of Ogun State under our watch. We are committed to giving priority to the people as the focus of our Administration. We will continue to rekindle the hope of the people and reawaken their belief in their government. That is the best memorial we could ever give MKO. As an Administration, we will continue to live up to the ideals of Bashorun Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola GCFR, and keep his dreams alive through continued and faithful implementation of our policies and programmes as reflected in our ISEYA acronym, that is:

I –Infrastructure
S – Social Welfare and Wellbeing
E – Education
Y – Youth Development, and
A – Agriculture and Food Security

13.Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, as we reflect today on the unquantifiable, selfless sacrifice and contributions of Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola to the development of our fatherland, let us remember in his words that “Only real democracy can move our Nation forward towards progress, and earn her the respect she deserves from the international community”. I therefore enjoin us all to rededicate ourselves to the service of the nation and continue to remain united and patriotic. No greater honour can be bestowed on Late Chief Abiola than this. This is when the labour of the highly revered politician, businessman and philanthropist as well as other heroes shall not be in vain.

14.Ladies and gentlemen, on a concluding note, I enjoin all of you to continue to pray for the repose of the soul of the gallant father of democracy, our own dear uncle, father, great-grandfather and symbol of Nigeria’s unity, late Moshood Kasimawo Olawale Abiola GCFR. There was no humiliation that he did not endure; no snare that was not put in his path; no setup that was not designed for him in his endeavour to use the path of peace to enforce the mandate that was bestowed on him. We remember today, as always, that you died that Democracy may survive in Nigeria. We pray that your beloved wife, Alhaja Kudirat, and other patriots whose blood water the field of democracy that we now enjoy find peace with their Creator. May the soul of Chief MKO Abiola continue to rest in perfect peace. Amen!

15.I thank you all for listening, and God bless.

Igbega Ipinle Ogun, ajose gbogbo wa ni o!

Democracy Day Is Freedom Day by Asabi Olarenwaju

For 22years of uninterrupted Democratic Governance in Nigeria, it's a happy moment to wish ourselves happy Freedom day.

Democracy as a system of Government by the whole population typically through elected representatives has availed us Rights, Freedoms and Privileges.

Democracy like other types of Government is not without its own disadvantages but if we can maximise our opportunities and potentials, the advantages will outweigh it's disadvantages.

As patriotic citizens of this great nation, Nigeria, it is our civic responsibilities to make sure Nigeria gets better day by day by contributing our positive quota.

Together we can

Land Dispute: Ogun Assembly Urges Edumari, Odunaro To Maintain Status Quo

Committed to the promotion and sustenance of peace and tranquility in Ogun State, the State House of Assembly has directed the Edumari family to steer clear of the 50 acres of landed properties allegedly belonging to Dr Sam Odunaro situated at Ijegemo, near Ilogbo in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the State thus, maintaining status quo ante, until the Assembly concludes its findings.

The Chairman, House Committee on Lands and Housing, Hon. Damilola Soneye issued the directive shortly after a meeting with representatives of Edumari, Oshoboja families alongside their legal counsels as well as Dr. Odunaro at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Soneye issued the stay of actions from all parties, while Dr. Odunaro should take charge of his landed property pending the conclusion of the Assembly's investigations as the said court judgement being bandied around was only on eight acres, which was totally far away from the 50 acres belonging to Dr. Odunaro.

The Chairman, in company of the Assembly's Majority Leader, Yusuf Sheriff, Honourables Olakunle Sobukanla, Ademuyiwa Adeyemi, Kemi Oduwole, Bolanle Ajayi and Abdul Bashir Oladunjoye after scrutinizing documents tendered before the Committee, noted that Odunaro's parcel of land was totally far in distance to the eight acres belonging to Edumari Family.

He urged all the parties involved to maintain peace, adding that the Assembly would take drastic actions against anyone found to have violated the Assembly directive until the matter is finally resolved.

Ogun Assembly Grant Abiodun'S Request To Acccess 250BN Three Years Credit Facility

Ogun State House of Assembly today granted an approval to the State Government to access N250bn only as three years Medium -Term Expenditure Frame Work ( MTEF) programme of the State to stimulate and grow the State's economy to be accessed in tranches of N100bn annually.

The Assembly's approval followed the passage of a resolution titled: "H.R: No. 067/OG/2020- Request for Bond Issuance, Public Offering or Book Building to the tune of Two Hundred and Fifty Billion Naira", moved by the Majority Leader, Yusuf Sheriff, seconded by Jemili Akingbade and supported by all the lawmakers through a voice vote at a plenary presided over by Speaker Olakunle Oluomo.

The Assembly's decision was in line with the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun's request for approval to access the credit facility communicated to the State House of Assembly last month and read yesterday at the plenary.

According to the approval, the medium term financial programme would be carried out in tranches of One Hundred Billion Naira (N100bn) only annually, through any of bond issuance, public offering, book building or such other methods as may be approved by regulatory authorities, while access to other tranches were subject to further approval of the State House of Assembly.

Earlier, the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Olakunle Sobukanla explained that due to the economic challenges occasioned by COVID-19 pandemic, the State needed to access the financial instrument with a very low interest rate to further the infrastructural development of the State.

Responding, Speaker Oluomo stated that upon receipt of the request, the Assembly had engaged relevant government agencies with an assurance on the desirability of the facility, stressing that the approval of the financial intervention would help sustain the State's economy, following the economic downturn caused by the pandemic leading to the drastic reduction in the internally generated revenue as well as fund being received from the Federal allocation account.

Ogun State Assembly : Promoting Good Governance Through Legislative/Executive Interdependence, A Case Study By Lawal Jamiu

Those who designed democratic system of government and insisted that it is anchored on a tripod of distinctive but mutually interdependent arms of the Legislature, Executive and Judiciary knew that such collaboration could only result in the delivery of better service to the governed. The fact that such partnership remains constant, in spite of the clearly defined role of each arm in collaboration with one another, aids check and balances of each of the three arms of government in any democracy.

Thus, an introspective look at the results of such legislative/executive collaboration in the last one year of the current Members of the Ogun State House of Assembly indicated that the Ninth Legislature under the leadership of the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo has passed a total of 21 bills. This is just as the House of Assembly has also passed no fewer than 22 motions into resolutions which had assisted government in taking an immediate action on certain issues relating to the advancement of socio-economic well-being of the people of the State.

Given the successes so far recorded by the current administration in the State, it is evident that all the bills and resolutions so far passed by the lawmakers have immediate and direct positive impacts on the lives of the people of the State, one of such bills was the 2020 Appropriation Bill titled: "a Bill for a Law to Authorize the Issuance and Appropriation of the sum of Four Hundred and Forty Nine Billion, Nine Hundred and Seventy-Three Million, Six Hundered and Ninety Thousand, Two Hundred and Seventy-Five Naira, Seventy-Nine Kobo Only for the Services of Ogun State Government of Nigeria, for the Financial Year ending, Thirty-First Day of December, Two Thousand and Twenty".

For the first time in the history of the State Legislature, the Assembly, in partnership with the executive arm held a retreat, where those responsible for budget preparation and implementation, including budget development experts from the private sector had an interface with the Lawmakers on the components of the budget and how it would be effectively implemented before the Assembly began the consideration and eventual passage of the 2020 appropriation bill.

Another bill that underwent an immediate passage upon assumption of office by the current administration was a bill titled: "HB No 01/OG/2019: a bill for a law to amend the Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology, Law 2017", which helped to break the entanglement between MAUSTECH and the then Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, thereby resolving the lock jam created as a result of the creation of MAUSTECH. It sought to revalidate the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Law, by ensuring the return of smooth academic activities to the institution with all property of the institution hitherto transferred to MAUSTECH now returned to MAPOLY. The passage became imperative as MAPOLY that was reputed for academic excellence with a record of efficiency and effectiveness running close to achieving self- sustainability was hindered by disruption of academic activities occasioned by the untidy arrangement created by the entanglement of the two institutions in the old bill creating MAUSTECH. This, almost lead to the close of operations by MAPOLY in the course of the logjam, because it no longer had property of its own, until the amendment law was passed by the Oluomo led- House of Assembly and assented to by the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

In the same vein, the ninth Assembly also passed the State Security Trust Fund (Amendment) Law, 2019 and the State Road Management Agency (Amendment) Law, 2019 by the end of August last year. These two very important and people-centered bills are also critical to the day to day living of the people as issues of security were being addressed headlong through the creation of pool of resources to procure security equipment and other infrastructure.

On the other hand, the State Road Management Agency (Amendment) Law, 2019 titled: "HB No 03/OG/2019- A Bill to Amend the Ogun State Road Management Law, 2006 and the amendment thereto of 2007", would see to promoting indigenization of professionalism as more professionals in the built sector and from the public service would man the six hubs spread across the State to carry out maintenance of public infrastructure in all parts of the State. This had ensured smooth operations of the newly created State Public Works Agency, thereby aiding maintenance of roads and other infrastructure to ease human and vehicular activities thereby attracting investors and boosting investments.

Other bills passed including: " HB. No 005/OG/2019- A Bill for a Law to make Provision for the House of Assembly Legislative Fund Management and other matters connected therewith", " HB. No 020/ OG/ 2019- a Bill for a Law to Establish the Ogun State Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency and for matters connected therewith". "HB. No. 023/ OG/2019- A Bill for a Law to amend the Magistrates' Court Law, 2016” and “HB. No. 24/ OG/ 2019- A Bill for a Law to amend the Customary Courts Law, 2006" are also required for the promotion of democratic ideals, boosting investment, and enhancing justice dispensation.

In addition, the Magistrates Court (amendment) Law, 2019 and the Customary Courts (amendment) Law, 2019 were also passed to reduce the burden of cases in High Courts and Magistrates Courts, as the amendments to the two bills had helped to create room for the Customary Courts to entertain cases with financial cost up to N500,000 (five hundred thousand naira only). This, the State lawmakers unanimously concluded would fast track justice dispensation through access to justice, especially on cases to be handled by customary courts, which did not require appearance of lawyers.

Also, the passage of bills on the establishment of the State Sports Commission and that of the establishment of Sports Trust Fund would see to the overall development of sporting activities, talent discovery and enhancement of infrastructure to further engage the youth, who are the critical segment of the populace. The need to ensure the encouragement of the private sector in driving infrastructural development in the State also saw to the passage of the bill on Public Private Partnerships, Promote the Development of Infrastructure and Service Delivery. On the other hand, the establishment of the State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps, an initiative of the State Governors in the Southwest would assist in complementing the existing security agencies in the maintenance of law and order in the State amongst others.

It important to add that, bills titled: “H.B. No 014/OG/2019- Ogun State Official Order of Precedence of Public Officers and other persons Law, 2019- A Bill for a law to establish the official order of precedence of officers and other persons in the Public service of Ogun State and other matters connected therewith”; as well as “H.B. No 019/OG/2019- Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board (Amendment) Law, 2019 – A Bill for a law to amend the Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board and for connected purpose law, 2012”, were also passed by the lawmakers. The essence was to give direction to public officials in the State on the need to strictly follow the nationally recognized official order of precedence in all government's official engagements and the need to further strengthen technical and vocational education to aid development of technology in the State.

Similarly, the commitment of the current administration in the State towards improving the housing sector, safeguard health well-being of the people through efficient health insurance for all categories of people including workers, as well as the enforcement of rules and regulations by the relevant authority culminated in the passages of bills on “ H.B. No. 17/OG/2019- The Ogun State Mortgages and Foreclosure Law, 2019- A Bill for a law to establish the Ogun State Mortgages and Foreclosure Authority, to Regulate Mortgage and “H.B. No. 37/OG/2020- Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme (Amendment) Law, 2020- A Bill for a law to Amend the Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme Law, 2019 as well as H.B. No. 39/OG/2020 -Ogun State Regulations Approval Law, 2020- A Bill for a law to prescribe approval of regulation by resolution of the Ogun State House of Assembly and for connected purposes.

In thesame vein, another four bills were recently passed, which were meant to promote efficiency, accountability and transparency in the running of the State Office of the Auditor-General, the State Legislature and the State Judiciary in line with the constitutinal provisions for the implementation of their autonomy; while the amendment of the Public health Law, 2006 would help to reflect modern realities in ensuring public safety and protection for all residents of the State. The bills are :"HB No 027/ OG/2019-the Ogun State Audit Law, 2019, HB No 038/2020 -the Ogun Statei Public Health Law, 2020, HB No 040/OG/ 2020- Ogun State Legislative Funds Management Law, 2020 and HB No 041/OG/ 2020- Ogun State Judiciary Funds Management Law, 2020".

Aside those people oriented bills passed, the Assembly equally passed a total of 22 motions into resolutions, urging the State government and relevant security agencies to take urgent steps in addressing some key challenges to ensure the sustenance of peace, security, progress and development of the State. One of the resolutions was passed barely two days after its inauguration, when the House moved swiftly to pass a resolution urging the then Commissioner of Police in the State, Bashir Makama to step up more measures at checkmating the activities of road transport unions as well as curb illegal activities of some unscrupulous elements including land grabbers and cultists in some parts of the State. The House therefore enjoined the police authority to implement the law on prohibition of “forcible entry and occupation of landed properties, violent and fraudulent conducts in relation to landed properties, armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism and for other matters incidental thereto and connected therewith”.
The lawmakers also went a step further to have a one-day interactive session with the hierarchy of the Nigeria Police including the Commissioner of Police, the Area Commanders, DPOs and other senior officers in the Force, on the need to strengthen security networks in the State.

Also, the House passed a resolution for the enforcement and compliance to road traffic rules and regulations with a view to curbing overloading, riding against traffic and the need to encourage the use of helmet by motorcycle riders, stoppage of unlawful redesigning of cycle handles by riders amongst others sponsored by a member representing Abeokuta I State Constituency, Hon. Yusuf Adejojo.

To allow for more gender balancing in governance, the lawmakers also passed another resolution titled: "HR NO. 031/ OG/ 2019- Need for the Adoption of 35% women representation in all political appointments, 10% for youth, as well as special consideration for people with special needs in Ogun State", which was sponsored by Hon. Lateefat Ajayi.

The Assembly equally passed a resolution titled: "HR No. 029/2019- Approval for Ogun State Anchor Borrowers' Programmes", authorizing the State Government to participate in the N1.5bn CBN credit facility to finance the Anchor Borrowers Programme at a single digit interest rate for land clearing, other logistics requirements and support.

Committed to allowing for a thorough legislative process before the approval of the N1.5bn Anchor Borrowers’ Programme, the Assembly’s Speaker had earlier invited some stakeholders including the Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor, Dapo Okubadejo, State Accountant General, Idowu Micheal and Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Agriculture, Mrs. Abosede Ogunleye, the then Chairman of the Anchor Borrowers Programme, Prof. Bola Okuneye on the financial capacity of the State to accommodate the new financial facility, the desirability of the programme as well as the operationalization of the scheme upon the approval of the fund. The officials affirmed that the present financial base of the State could accommodate the proposed N1.5 Billion concessionary loan offered by the Central Bank of Nigeria to finance the Anchor Borrowers' Programme aimed at boosting food security, providing job opportunities for the teeming youth and capacity building for participants, particularly farmers.
