OGUN STATE YOUTH AWARDS 2021 TO BE GRACED BY TOP DIGNITARIES OF OGUN STATE BOTH PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTOR AT VALLEY VIEW, GOVERNMENT HOUSE, ABEOKUTA.

   Compliment of the season.

Build The Youth, Build The Nation!

The 2021 Ogun State Youth Award committee, on behalf of the leadership of the youth of Ogun State, welcomes members of the press to this important briefing.

This briefing, in addition to previous press statements on the subject matter, becomes crucial to inform the youth of the State and the general public on the necessary details of the biggest and most prestigious youth award ceremony in the State being organized by the Ogun State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria with support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Ogun State.

Ogun State Youth Awards is an annual event put together to recognize industrious young indigenes and Organizations that are promoting the image of Ogun State in positive limelight in their different areas of callings. The Award which was initiated by the Ogun State Youth Council in the early Millennium continues to shine as an avenue to assure patriotic young indigenes of the commitment of the State leadership to recognize their hard work and patriotism.

This year's Award commenced with a call for nominations on Tuesday 19th October through 23rd October 2021 where thousands of nominations were received for each of the categories of the Award.

The nomination stage which took almost a month, was closely followed be a vote for a winner from the three best nominees from December 2nd through December 7th, 2021.

Gentlemen of the Press, We are overwhelmed with the numbers of voting received which ran into tens of thousands. After a careful and thorough review by the award team, The winner emerged from each category out of the 3 nominees shortlisted per category except for the Icon of Humanity category which the voting was halted based on popular demands.

The decision to reward all the three shortlisted nominees of ICON of Humanity was due to tremendous public concern demanding a review on the decision to have subjected the category of ‘ICON OF HUMANITY’ to voting as every act of charity should indeed be celebrated without any clause. Hence, it is pertinent that the category of ICON of Humanity will cease to be open for contest in future editions of the Ogun State Youth Awards.

Gentlemen of the Press, the Award ceremony has been slated to hold on Tuesday 28th of December, 2021 at Valley View Auditorium, Government House, Isale Igbehin Abeokuta; to commence with Red Carpet at 3 pm, while the main event begins at 4 pm.

By God's grace, Apart from the Awardee and eminent youth stakeholders in the State, This year's award ceremony has assurances for the presence of notable State and non State actors including Her Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. (Mrs) Noimot Salako Oyedele;  the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi; and several other revered sons and Daughters of Ogun State across the Nation and beyond.

While thanking the entire youth of Ogun state for their supports at all levels of the Awards and other initiatives of the State Youth Council leadership to continue to promote and project the youths of Ogun State in the positive limelight, we assure them of enthusiastic and committed leadership.

   Thank you.

Signed.

YOU WILL OVERCOME

The killer disease called depression is real and silently taking many away. Life is full of many challenges and problems people daily encounter which is stronger than they could bear.

When you considered what you are going through, all that is happening around you and a negativity spirit sets in making you look like nothing is working or you might not overcome the challenges, please seek help, speak out to someone cause depression is silently knocking the door.

Gradually, you begin to withdraw from the affairs of life and hide it from people under the pretense that all is well but in their closet they are silently shedding heavy tears of failure.

May God make us stronger than we can imagine when things go wrong, give us grace to hold unto him to see light at the end of the tunnel. No challenges without a solution, it might be delayed but help will come.

Never give up on yourself, the sun will shine again.

Good morning

REMO YOUTHD ASSOCIATION CELEBRATE AKARIGBO ON HIS INAUGURATION AS CHAIRMAN OGUN STATE COUNCIL OF OBAS AND CHIEFS

The indigenous umbrella body for all young people in Remo land known as Remo Youth Association (RYA) felicitates with her Grand Patron, the Akarigbo and Paramount ruler of Remo kingdom, HRM Oba Adewale Babatunde Ajayi (BL, LLM, FCA, FBR) on his royal inauguration as the Chairman of Ogun State Council of Obas and Chiefs.

In a statement released by the Youth body's General Secretary Adewale Damilare SODIYA, the highly referred monarch is described as a round peg designed for the round hole whose time to preside over the affairs of Obas and Chiefs in the Gateway State is soothingly admirable because of kabiesi's rich credentials which is not limited to academic but his mesmerizing leadership acumen over the cultural and traditional values of Remo people over the years on the stool of his forebears is legendarily impeccable.

However, as a monarch who is lover of youths across Remo land (this is evident courtesy of numerous congratulatory messages for Kabiesi from our members youth organizations), we therefore wholeheartedly jointly celebrates and congratulates our own father on this feat and we pray for his successful reign as he pilot the affairs of Ogun State Council of Obas and Chiefs.

May Kabiesi's reign on the ancient stool of Remo kingdom usher in more unprecedented growth, progress and development in Remo land and Ogun State at large.

Congratulations Sir!

Adewale Damilare SODIYA

CRYPTOCURRENCIES: WHY NIGERIA MUST NOT BE LEFT BEHIND

What’s the buzz about crypto currency?

Crypto currency is a money-like currency that leverage on the digital space for its existence. It can be used as a medium of exchange, to buy and sell, to keep and hold just like any kind of physical currency. Crypto currency also appreciates and depreciates depending on various determinants such as rate of acceptance and usage, only to mention a few. However, bearing in mind that the world has gone digital, its value is second to none. It is mobile, generally accessible and can be used by all irrespective of the country or people.

Crypto currency has thus created opportunities for the youths, to earn their living, especially in the face of dwindling economic fortune of the country.
It was thus a pleasant surprise that the Federal Government placed a ban on crypto-exchanges transactions in Nigeria through our nation's banking system. One begins to wonder and profoundly amazed how the present administration is promoting the perception that it is averse to new ways of doing things. They will rather approach issues brashly, primitively and brazenly arrogant with its display of huge knowledge-gap and misguided sentiments. This was also evident in its hasty ban on Twitter's operations in Nigeria by being mischievously ummimdful of the losses many Nigerians will incur especially the youths.

With successive policies of this administration, it will be safe to affirm it doesn't want the youths to be empowered. Another instance was the clampdown on Flutterwave,(a payment platform) while seeking to get at the sponsors of the #Endsars movement which Maj-General Muhammadu Buhari(Rtd) saw as an attempt to remove him from office.

It is noteworthy that in five(5) years before it ban, Crypto transactions was worth $566m, and I'm yet to see the economic sense in pulling off the plug on such investment. To me, such decision is borne out of poor judgment and bad economic sense.

Again, it is quite ludicrous for the Central Bank of Nigeria to claim it was effecting a 2017 directive by banning crypto exchanges using banking and payment channels when the said directive or order contained demand for banks and other financial institutions to ensure that their crypto-exchange customers have effective anti-money laundering and anti-terrorism financing controls in place. This i can say with utmost conviction was adhered to as there was a guaranteed safety and ethical movement of money as transactions are carried out with BVN and other forms of valid identifications.

The CBN Governor, Godwin Emeifele claims before Senate Committee on Banking that cryptocurrencies play roles in momey-laundering, terrorism financing, illicit arms purchases and tax evasion. For the sake of argument, and in futherance of this conversation, let assume the claims by the CBN Governor is true(though an outlandish one) I'm wondering why no crypto-exchange customer anywhere in the country has never been arrested, investigated on any of these accusations and complicity was established, and a guilty verdict in a court of competent jurisdiction. This only further makes this claims unfounded, wicked, irresponsible, and illogical.

While it is an established fact that they do a lot of damage to the value of the Naira through actions of speculators and round trippers in the black market, BDCs operators have an established case of terrorism funding against them. There was a case of Surajo Abubakar Muhammed, Saleh Yusuf Adamu, Ibrahim Ali Alhassan, AbdurRahman Ado Musa, Bashir Ali Yusuf and Muhammed Ibrahim Musa were sentenced by an Abu Dhabi Court either to life or ten year jail term as it was established that between 2015 to 2016, these accused transferred $782,000 from Dubai to Nigeria to the benefits of Boko Haram. In 2015, a survey of academic, governmental and journalistic accounts reported that Boko Haram funds its escalating acts of terror through black markets dealings. It is expected of the CBN governor and Federal Government to follow precedence by banning the activities of BDCs across the country just as they did with its speculations about Crypto-exchanges customers. Also the report from UAE revealed that the terrorist group launders its money through Bureau de Change.

There is an issue of moral bankruptcy on the part of the Federal Government to sustain the ban on Cryptocurrencies trading through CBN as there are indications that the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubukar Malami might still be trading in it. In a bid to prove that he(AGF) is serious about prosecuting Nigerians who are still actively using Twitter after FG's ban, on a screengrabbed of his deactivated Twitter account, it was alleged he has an active Bitcoin trading activities going on. The question here is why are many young Nigerians deprieved of such legitimate earnings while its now made exclusive reserve of some privileged government officials. Some weeks ago, it was widely reported that the CBN is working on a plan to introduce its digital currency, and may roll it out by the end of 2021. The question here is why plunged many Nigerians into economic woes because of a monopolistic agenda? What becomes of "Free market?"

Lastly, in a world where the future is Artificial Intelligence(AI), Robotics, and Digital currencies , and also a prediction that Cryptocurrencies have a huge prospects of challenging traditional banking in few years to come, any forward thinking government will not only prepare to be part of such, it will never cut off its citizens from it as well. Any serious minded will rather regulate the space in a bid to be adequately prepared for such imminent shift and not ban what it doesn't understand.

We are doing a lot of catch ups on many fronts of life, be it medicare, policing and technologically, we cannot afford to keep the list growing with the sustained ban on Cryptocurrencies.

REJOINDER: ROYAL INTERACTION WITH YOUTHS OF REMO LAND

Our attention has been drawn to a flier been circulated on social media, to a proposed Royal interaction with the youths of Remo land powered by ADRON HOMES been organised by some faceless group from Sagamu, who are claiming they are working for the interest of entire youths of Remo land.

Truth be told, Remo cuts across Sagamu,Ikenne and Remo North local government areas, and no sectional community group or individual members from Sagamu solely have the collective mandate of youths across the three local governments should ever claim representing the interest of Remo Youths.

This is a purported attempt to fan ember of discord among Remo towns which can in turn damage and ridicules the office of our paramount ruler, if been sectional in matters that concerns all.
The proposed event is laudable one coming from the stable of His Majesty but should be via a formidable house that unify all young Remonians through Remo Youth Association, not some faceless individuals.

It is high time we put a stop to this which could create needless friction among the youths of Remo, someone with no statutory office in the scheme of Remo Youth Leadership cannot just sit at one corner of his/her room, maybe because of his or her closeness to certain people in the Akarigbo Palace then mischievously plan a kangaroo program for Remo Youth with our Baba Akarigbo, without actively carrying the other communities in various local government areas in Remo land. Ikenne and Remo North local governments are not appendage of Sagamu local government and henceforth individuals should not by their actions put an unnecessary division among Remo Youth because of thier personal agenda.

Surprisingly enough, we were informed through some palaces where the said letters were dropped, the letters was bearing the letterhead tagged Remo Youth Gladiators, a faceless group not known to Remo Youths, hence, cannot work for the interest of Remo Youth.

To put the record straight, Remo Youth Association knows nothing about the purported sectional cum divisive program and we are distancing ourselves and all affiliated youths association under the aegis of Remo Youth Association from such body that want to set Remo on fire by hiding under the name of our revered Akarigbo.

We urge our revered Kabiesis (ki Ade pe lori o), corporate bodies, individuals and the general public to dissociate themselves from certain individuals and fifth columnists pretending to be community warriors but whose activities are inimical to the growth and peaceful existence of Remonians.

COUNCIL POLLS: DEMOCRACY IN DISMAY STATE IN REMO LAND

_... Call on more youth inclusion in governance_
31st of May,2021

It has come to our notice the state at which governance come to play among political leaders, dealers, overruling the aspirations of some promising youths on good governance in Remo land.

One they say, youth are veritable tools for good governance and even development to our society. It's saddening and disheartening for some elders, playing childish and selfish politics in the ongoing local government council electioneering process across Ogun state ruling out youth aspirations among various political parties .

We commend the frontline campaign of the leadership of the Gateway state,on the all inclusive campaign. It's just pitiable, some dealers called leaders trying all means to jettison the good mission of democratic governance in the state.

We have observed from all width and breadth across the three local government areas in Remo land, on how politicians failed in the youth inclusiveness on this forth coming local council election in Ogun state.

Less you forget, most of our leaders,we look up to today, start there leadership career at a youthful ages, likes of General Yakubu Gowon(31 years old),General Murtala Muhammed (37 years old), General Olusegun Obasanjo (39 years old),Major General Muhammadu Buhari (41 years old) Major General Aguiyi-Ironsi 42 years old) and many more both national and regional level of the country.

It saddening our hearts, some faithful leaders, can't stand firm, rally up and give adequate support, mentorship and encouragement to the youth, who have shown interest to run for the local government council election, rather they continue bringing old folks for councillorship positions across various wards in the three local government areas in Remo land.

We emphatically call on all political parties leaders across Remo land,it's one who give rooms for youth inclusiveness in governance we would respect, honour, support, when the needs call. It's high time we take the bull by the horn and be watchful of those who have the interest of the youth in mind.

We sincerely commend the government of Kogi state, on a laudable stride, giving the youth a sense of belonging in local council, making all youth local government coordinators as the secretary to there various local government areas.

This should be seeing as a role call and eye opener to the governor of Ogun state on youth inclusiveness in governance. As your campaign tagged;all inclusive, "Building our future together".

MUSHIN : MY HOOD, MY STORY

My Mushin, the beautiful city that never goes to sleep, omo oni mushin ajina, omo oni mushin ana doru
My Mushin the city that knows no dull moment no matter the chaos in the land.
The uniqueness of my Hood is it's comparison to certain major cities of the world that bears striking resemblance to it's socio-economic tendencies, cities like Peckham, Brixton or Hackey, Brooklyn etc.

Welcome to Mushin Ajina a south-western part of Lagos State and largely inhabited by Yorubas but also inhabited by the Hausas who largely dominate the area called Idi-ara and the Igbos aren't left out has they dominate Ladipo market a place known for its sales of Vehicle Spare parts and Papa Ajao, the GRA of Mushin.
Mushin is a town in Lagos founded over 600 years ago, history tells us it was a jungle that nobody wanted to live in, it was a jungle they passed on their way to Eko, nobody then knew it would today become a glory known to the world. There were two hunters who came from different directions whose mindset was to explore the jungle, they normally meet under a tree called Ish in tree with its juicy fruits as a shield, sooner other hunters joined them in meeting at this particular spot. These two hunters, one was called Odu-Abore who hailed from Ile-Ife and have a Primary school in mushin named after him while the second hunter was called Aileru who hailed from Benin and have the Great King of Mushin Oba Fatal Aileru has his lineage. Mushin connotes it's name from the Ishin tree, the name was coined from
Mu - a Yoruba word meaning Pick
ISHIN- the fruit on the tree they normally meet
MU- ISIN means Pick the Ishin fruits
Today it is pronounced MUSHIN.

The indigenes of Mushin are the Awodi speaking tribes who has the Owoye shrine located in Ojuwoye, a popular markey in mushin. Mushin is bounded on the North by Oshodi while in the South by Surulere. With the help of Civilization, Mushin has seen the creation of industries in her locality like cotton manufacturing industry, shoe manufacturing industry, bicycle and tricycle assembling industry, beverage company, the popular Daleko food market, Schools and hospitals.

Mushin to the world is a popular and vibrant town known for her vigorous act, Mushine are known to be vocal, hardworking, hustlers, courageous, rugged minded, and fighters for the course of their belief. It is only the bad eggs among them that portrays the evil deeds of Mushin to the world, a town with over 1million inhabitants, has different meaning to different people all over the world. A Nigerian Music legend once sand a song that; If you come to lagos and you have not been to Mushin, then you are not in Lagos ( To ba wo Eko to ba de Mushin, o ti de Eko). Mushin a place known for sagacity and violent side, political and communal riots, they never take intimidation as an approach by any other part of the State, Mushine never accept defeat which is a trend in all children born and breed in mushin. They are one of the greatest hustlers anywhere in the world who could do anything for survive and you find them the Mushine in almost every part of the world.

Welcome to my Hood, which had produced and still producing figures and personality repping mushin to the world.

Happy Mother's Day

Do you think allowing the notion of what the society, religion, culture and people will say will make things better, you better get your minds together and do the needful before depression, domestic violence, hypertension or death snatch you away from your destiny.
You think your story is the worse case on earth becuase you are a matured single, barren or what.
Women, as we celebrate mother's day today, the only gift you can give yourself and humanity is self-love, happiness and being strong, whatever you are passing through is a phase, it will go soon with prayers, faith in God and commitment to seek a success story through hardwork and diligence.
Never allow what people call you or describe you to others intimidate you, the major principle is you are who you call yourself to be through the storm.
Life is a thorn of roses, trying to walk pass those thorns despite the pain, hurts, tears, rejections, depressions, will land you to where the roses so beautifully decorated are, never give up.
Once you still have your breathe, all will be well, only those in the grave have lost hope.

I do not have copyright to the music

GOVERNOR DAPO ABIODUN COMMISERATE WITH THE DEMISE OF ODUMAKIN, HE DESCRIBES HIS DEATH A PAINFUL ONE AT THIS TIME

Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has mourned the death of the spokesperson of the Pan-Yoruba group, Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, describing his death as "painful".

Odumakin was reported to have died in a Lagos hospital on Saturday morning.

But Abiodun, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, declared that the southwest has lost a courageous human rights activist and fearless public commentator.

The governor noted that Odumakin, while alive, championed the cause of the southwest and promote the ideals of the late sage and Premier of the defunct Western Region, Obafemi Awolowo, which were held dear by the Afenifere.

Abiodun, who said the late journalist would be remembered for his timely response to national issues, particularly, ones that affected the southwest, added that Odumakin lived a good life and fought a good fight.

"For those of us who have followed Odumakin's trajectory in journalism and activism, he lived a good life and fought doggedly to defend the defenceless. He and his wife were always at the forefront to protest against oppressive government policies.

ENGR.SOSANWO ADEOLA(SAS) COMMENDED GOV. DAPO ABIODUN FOR RENOVATING REMO SECONDARY SCHOOL BOYS AND GIRLS HOSTELS PRIOR AIONIANS GAME

The executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun in build-up for 2021 AIONIAN, responded to SAS message from the National President of Old Student Association of Remo Secondary School Sagamu request for renovation last week.

Engr. Adeola Sosanwo being the President of REMO SECONDARY SCHOOL OLD STUDENT ASSOCIATION (RSSOSA) called the attention of his excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun (MFR) in giving a new face to depleting buildings set to host a foremost secondary schools sport competition, the AIONIANS.

In preparation for the competition which brings twelve (12) secondary schools in Nigeria for sports, the Old Students President said, "there are no constraints on the human mind, no walls around the human spirit, no barriers to our progress except those we ourselves erect".

In March 1930, the principals of four voluntary agency schools in the Western Region of Nigeria attended a meeting at St. Andrew's College, Oyo. The Principals were those of Abeokuta Grammar School (the Late Rev. W.R.B. Kuye). Ibadan Grammar School (the Late Bishop A.B. Akinyele), Ondo Boys High School (the Late Canon M.C. Adeyemi) and Ijebu Ode Grammar School (the Late Rev. I.O. Ransome-Kuti),.

It was at this meeting that the founder and principal of Ondo Boys High School, Ondo suggested that the four schools should form a brotherhood and hold Annual Sport Competitions. The other principals gladly accepted the suggestion and the name AIONIAN was coined by putting together the initial of all the four schools A-Abeokuta, I-Ijebu-ode, O!Ondo and I-Ibadan, while AN was added to the coinage to make it adjectival.

In 1942, Oduduwa College, Ile-Ife and Ilesa grammar Schools joined the group.

Remo Secondary School, Sagamu became a member in 1949, Imade College, Owo and Victory College, Ikare, Akoko were given membership in 1951. Yewa (Egbado) College, Ilaro joined in 1954 which Manuwa Memorial Grammar School, Ijebu-Ode and Odeomu Anglican School became members in 1958, to bring the membership to 12schools.

These 12 Secondary Schools used to conduct Annual Common Entrance Examination while the Sports meeting served as the Annual Re-union Festival. The First Sports meeting served as the Annual Re-Union Festival. The First Sport Festival was held in 1931; it was through the AIONIAN festival that sporting competitions came to the limelight in Nigeria.

The AIONIAN festival was the forerunner of all others. The Grier Cup, the Principal’s Cup etc. In 1991, quiz and essay competitions among the various AIONIAN schools were introduced. The best students in Science, Art, Commercial and Technical Subjects in the most recent Senior School Certificate Examinations among the AIONIAN schools usually wins an academic award of the Brotherhood for the particular year.
