HERDSMEN: YOUTH GROUP CALLS FOR PEACEFUL RESOLUTION OF CONFLICT

The President of the Unlimited Club of Nigeria, Dada Babajide, has called on the Federal government and SouthWest Governors to engage in dialogue and consultation over the crisis between Yoruba youths and Fulani Herdsmen in the Southwest.

Recall that an activist, Sunday Adeyemo Igboho had issued a quit notice to the Hausa-Fulani in Igangan, Oke Ogun area of Oyo State.

The incident allegedly resulted in the destruction of houses and vehicles.

Reacting to the incidence, Babajide advised the Federal Government to apply caution in handling the fragile situation.

Babajide made the call for the government to dialogue with stakeholders with a view to finding solutions to the crisis.

He said, “The Igangan incident must be condemned by all lovers of peace. But at the same time, we cannot close our eyes to the pain and suffering of farmers and indigenes of the area whom criminals see as soft targets for kidnapping, armed robbery, etc. It is however crystal clear that it is not a religious matter, though some have been misled into labeling it an Hausa-Fulani affair. Our focus must be the criminals, not any tribe.

“While we do not endorse violence, we opine that people whose farms have been destroyed have the right to express indignation. In the same manner, those whose relations or friends have fallen victims to criminal activities like kidnapping and armed robbery are justified to speak up.

In the same development, the PRO of the Club, Oludege Peters, has condemned the activities of criminals in the region, calling on security agencies to ensure that those behind criminal activities be brought to justice for thier crimes.

He said, “Truth is bitter, but the earlier we say it the better. Herdsmen have no right to destroy crops. This is where people have genuine grievances against herdsmen.

“Instead of applying tribal differences to the issue, we call on the Federal Government to consult widely with elders from all the states of the region concerning the issue of herdsmen versus farmers with a view to finding a comprehensive solution. Federal government should also seek advice from other African countries where the same crisis has been on the front burner at one time or the other.

In his reaction, the Vice President of the Club, Abolade Rasheed, said that the grassroots of the issue must be addressed to avoid a repeat of such conflict in the future.

In his words, “To douse tension immediately, both Federal government and the six Governors in the region should undertake to speedily and adequately compensate victims of herdsmen attack in the region. Federal government in particular should take greater responsibility because it is the nationwide lacuna in security matters that has been responsible for the breakdown in law and order.

“Instead of issuing threats and counter-threats, we appeal to the various ethnicities in the country to understand the nature of the conflict. We therefore advocate wide scale dialogue in the present circumstances. We call on governors in the region to consult traditional rulers on the best solution to the crisis.”

THE NEW NIGERIA, " THE BIGGER PICTURE " BY COMRADE HARUNA BRAIMOH GANI

"Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, and intelligent execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives – choice, not chance, determines your destiny." ~ Aristotle.

The Concept of THE NEW NIGERIA "THE BIGGER PICTURE" is an audacious but courageous move to put the Nigeria state on the social political and economic trajectory undiluted greatness, steadfastness, national cohesion to drive a shared vision of national prosperity.

The new Nigeria concept is an idealistic Political vehicle that will Marshal a new thinking, direction & path for the enthronement of a better social contract between the citizens and government in the attainment of Good governance across board.

The project is tasking the country and the citizens at this critical moment of our history to begin to see things from the "BIGGER PICTURE" perspective. Big-picture thinking means strategic thinking. New Brand strategy and New leadership strategy are all about seeing the whole picture. Considering things in a silo never creates an impactful strategy. And often, leaders get hung up on tactical details that stall powerful, strategic thinking.

This Project is touching or shall be touching some critical aspects of the nationhood and such lies in finding lasting solution through new thinking that's evolving across the following core areas.

1. New thinking in NATIONAL COHESION.

2. Strategic leadership to Marsha the new social economic development design needed for a 21st century country.

3. Revolutionised Civic responsibility & Duties needed to uphold our national values, ethics & Vision.

4. Educational development that's build to become pathfinder/base for a thriving Knowledge economy.

5. Economic development designs that drives industrialisation through comparative advantage amongst components states in the federation through synchronized & synergistic mechanism.

6. The new Nigeria concept lay more emphasis on "Practical" Empowerment through a deliberate process of creating enablement for youthful ingenuity to thrive & create incubation centers where ideas can be translated through innovations to Products of all kinds within the formal & informal sector.

"HOW TO END THE SEVERAL SOCIO-ECONOMIC VICES IN NIGERIA THROUGH SMART AGRICULTURE" BY SMARTFARMER ADESINA GBADEBO

Looking at the high rates of insecurity, crime and unemployment in Nigeria,
From the herdsmen/farmers dispute, to kidnapping and to many other social vices. I really don't envy the people in Government of this great country at all levels, if only the people in the corridors of power knows the right things to do, and their willingness to do them.

You never can tell, this small piece of advice might be followed.
👉🏻 Resuscitation of the existing farm settlements across the country, by providing:
An integrated approach to farming by creating a cluster of both livestock and crop production. The grains such as maize, soyabeans produced by crop farmers will be absorbed and used by livestock farmers, while in return the by-products from the livestock section like poultry and cattle manure are used a s organic fertilizers by the crop farmers.

Can you Imagine how many individuals will be taken off the streets?

You can imagine the seemless bond that will be present amongst cattle herders and grain farmer?

Can you imagine how much the government will save from the purchase of chemical fertilizers?

Creation of value addition and lots more....

Nigerian Leaders must take proactive measures in tackling these menace.....

CHAIRMAN TRANSITION COMMITTEE, EWEKORO LOCAL GOVERNMENT

FFS EMERGES MOST PERFORMING LG CHAIRMAN IN OGUN STATE

In recognition of his untiring and determined efforts to further repositioning governance and administrative system in Ifo Local Government, the Chairman, Transition Committee, Hon. Fola Salami (FFS) has been adjudged as the "Most Performing Local Government Chairman" by Amebo News Hub, a leading online newspaper.

The organizer/convener of the award, Solanke Ayodimeji Taiwo who announced the award shortly after conducting a 3-day online poll that earned the chairman a total of 1,313 votes to have defeated his Ewekoro counterpart, Muyiwa Babyemi who garnered 1,201 votes, noted that the award was an avenue to identify with excellence and quality service delivery at the grassroot level.

Receiving the award, Hon. Salami appreciated the online voters for their consistent commitments and unwavering support at appreciating the various developmental projects initiated by the Transition Committee of Ifo Local Government Council under his leadership, noting that such would further spur the Transition Committee to improve on the delivery of more democratic dividends to the people whose expectations from government remain unlimited.

According to the Chairman who commended the uniqueness of the online award and it criteria, "this award doesn't belong to me because it is not about my person but all of us in Ifo as a united family of values. I will accept it on behalf of the real owners of the award, the Public Officers of the council and also all the taxpayers who have given us the tool and resources to do our laudable works".

"Collective success must be, and is indeed, more important than individual recognition. A Government is no different from a football club, to the extent that they comprise individuals of different talents, passions and experiences who must work together to deliver service to the public.

Appreciating Governor Dapo Abiodun for his exemplary leadership style that remained a model for others at the council level to emulate, the transition Chairman called for more support for the State government through prompt payment of tax and maintenance of existing infrastructural projects, while more would soon be delivered.
