ENDSARS: KODA.NG CONDEMNS ATTACK ON PROTESTERS, SAYS CITIZENS HAVE RIGHTS TO PEACEFUL PROTESTS

Following the reported attacks on #EndSars protesters in the Lekki area of Lagos state yesterday, Knowledge Over Drug Abuse (KODA.Ng) has strongly condemned the attack, describing it as sad and disheartening.

This was made known by the Director of Administrations, Faozy O. Gazaly while addressing Newsmen on the development.

Faozy said it is totally unacceptable for any Government to turn its weapons on its own young people.

"It is heartbreaking to see unarmed protesters demanding for better policing be victims of harassment, illegal detention and extra-judicial killings in the manner we saw in Lekki yesterday.

"These are peaceful youth protesting to express legitimate concerns over the brutality they have suffered from some officers of the Nigeria Police Force partly for drug use.

"No life of any Nigerian youth taking part in a peaceful protest deserves to be taken.

"We appeal to the government to put an end to this shooting of protesters by the Nigerian Army. We need to exercise great patience, restraint and compassion in handling the demands of these youths.

'The #EndPoliceBrutalityinNigeria campaign championed by Nigeria’s youth have highlighted the need for a comprehensive reform of the Nigerian Police Force — to allow it better serve and protect our people", he added.

The attack on the protester recorded 7 deaths with many others sustaining different degrees of injury.
