Ajimobi's Death : We have Lost An Icon Of Leadership In Nigeria, Says Nigerians Youth Parliament




   The Nigerian Youth Parliament, South-West caucus has condoled with the people of Oyo State and South-West Nigeria over the demise of the former governor, Abiola Ajimobi.

The death of Ajimobi was announced on Thursday.

          The South-West caucus of the Parliament commiserated with the family of the former governor, who served as a senator before winning the governorship election in 2011.

          Olusesi Akinoso, the Chief Whip of the Parliament expressed his grief over the demise of the former governor, saying that Nigeria has lost a leader.

          Olusesi described the late Ajimobi as lively and fatherly, that there was never a dull moment with the late former Governor.

          He said, "Ajimobi was an icon of leadership to many young people in the region and nation, he served as a motivation to many who came across him.

          "He left the world at a crucial moment when the country needed his counsels to heal, and grow, his absence will surely be felt by all".

          The South-West Caucus leader of the Parliament, Akinyele Odunayo, also expressed shock over the news of the former governor's death.

          He said, "We had hoped that he was recovering and would soon resume his duties in the leadership of the country, but the news of his passing came to us as a shock.

          "Ajumobi provided valuable and memorable leadership during his time as governor”

          Odunayo added that he had personally followed developments in the late Ajimobi’s health “since the news of the former governor’s lung surgery broke and when he showed signs of recovery”.

          Ajimobi was a senator from 2003 to 2007. He was elected governor in 2011 and re-elected in 2015, becoming the first Oyo State governor to serve two terms. He was 70
