"We have powerful potentials in our youths, and we must continue to develop the courage to use these potentials in the development of Ogun State"

In furtherance to the vision of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR to build an economically viable Ogun State which has vibrant and intellectual youths as its drivers, I had a consultative meeting with delegates of various political and non-political youth groups in Ado-Odo Ota local government of the state, in my capacity as the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth and Sports.

The groups comprised of Ijana Ota Youth Development Council, Osi Ota Youth Development Council, Otun Ota Youth Development Council, Oruba Ota Youth Development Council, Yewa-Awori Youth Council, Awori Intellectuals, Awori Free Thinkers,, Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), Iganmode Afeleja Youth Group, Ota Change Agents, National Youth Council of Nigeria, among others.

The visit was in acknowledgement of their contributions towards the growth and development of Ogun state in diverse ways.

At the meeting, I reminded the youths of their great potentials as young people, and how these potentials are needed to drive the machine of development in Ogun state to greater heights.

When addressing the gathering, I noted with surprise that 'just a few weeks ago, my attention was drawn to the exemplary act of Ota youths who were repairing the roads constructed by the last administration that were gradually becoming an eyesore and bringing untold hardship to residents and commuters'

'It requires the spirit of oneness for young people in the local government to fix the roads even when they were not mandated to, this act is worthy of praise and encouragement'

While appreciating the youths and assuring them of Prince Dapo Abiodun's commitment to the welfare of all youths in Ogun State, I used the opportunity to explain the schemes and ongoing thoughtful and people oriented projects of the present administration that ranges from Agriculture to technology to infrastructure and investment drive as well as financial assistance to boost small scale businesses that this government has initiated, for the benefit of youths.

I reminded them that Prince Dapo Abiodun has committed himself to ensuring that youths in the Gateway State are given topmost priority and attention. I implored the youths to take advantage of the schemes initiated by this administration for personal and societal development.

Speaking on behalf of His Royal Majesty, the Olota of Ota, Oba (Prof.) Adeyemi Obalanlege, Akeweje of Ota, Alhaji Rafiu Bakare appreciated the Governor of Ogun State for his tremendous efforts aimed at repositioning Ogun State, giving assurances of thier continuous support for the present administration.

He also commended my visit and advised that the engagement of the youth should be a regular exercise.

He appealed that all points raised by the Youths of Ota which ranged from sports development, security, empowerment and infrastructures should not be swept under the carpet.

The meeting held at the palace of Olota of Ota had in attendance; President of Iganmode-Afeleja group, Mr Elijah Ajibode, President, Awori Free thinkers, Mr D. Moses, Asiwaju Abayomi Oke, the National President of Yewa-Awori Youth Council, the Youth leaders of the four quarters and other major stakeholders in the youth constituency of Yewa/Awori land.

Earlier, I paid a courtesy visit to the Transition Chairman of the Local Government, Alhaji Wasiu Lawal at his residence and the DPO of Ota respectively to intimate them of my visit and synergies.

I shall also be visiting other local governments to acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of the youth in the 'Building Our Future Together' agenda of our administration.
